National Economically Weaker Section Merit Scholarship Scheme(NMMSS)

Organization: Ministry of Education, Government of India Description: Scheme to prevent economically weaker students from dropping out after class 8 and encourage them to complete secondary education. Benefits: • Scholarship of ₹12,000 per year to selected students from class 9 to 12. • Amount transferred to bank account annually through DBT. Eligibility: • Students studying in class 8 whose family annual income does not exceed ₹3.5 lakh. • Student has to pass the NMMS exam conducted by the State/UT.
